It’s hard to find an activity that works as many muscles as kickboxing! Kickboxing is a whole-body workout that engages the upper body, lower body, and core through various exercises and movements. Learning self defence and stretching beyond your comfort zone to apply striking techniques that you may have previously been uncomfortable with is an incredibly empowering part of a kickboxing workout. We’ve all felt the confidence boost we get from any exercise, but boxing and kickboxing in particular have a way of making you hold your head just that much higher! 30 Minute Hit uses High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). HIIT involves repeated bursts of high intensity exercise interspersed with low intensity recovery periods. This enables you to achieve results in improved muscle tone, fat burning, strength building, endurance and cardio fitness all in less time than by other methods. HIIT increases what is known as EPOC (Excess Post-Exercise Oxygen Consumption). This means that as your body works to restore energy and replace muscle proteins after intense exercise, you will continue to burn calories at an accelerated rate for hours after the workout is done.

Movements performed during boxing and kickboxing are what are known as plyometric exercises – “exercise involving repeated rapid stretching and contracting of muscles to increase muscle power.” Plyometric exercise can be used by anyone, and the benefits are unmatched: build strength, increase power and speed, improve overall tone, burn away fat, and assist with improved athletic performance. The continual stretching and tearing of the muscles is what causes the muscle tissue to repair and build itself, increasing your muscle mass and reducing fat. And don’t worry, we’ve got a few effective isometric exercises up our sleeves for you too! Our dedicated core stations ensure that we are including those slower, lower intensity exercises that promise to have you feeling that burn in a whole different way than at our striking stations!
