Dress for success!

In a slump? Try thinking about what you’re wearing as a means to motivate you!

Creating a mindful and positive gym experience, starts with what you see in the mirror each day. If you put on active wear that you actually feel confident in, it can motivate you to Hit the gym harder and more often. When you feel good in your clothes, your mindset can shift to a place where self-care becomes more important to you.

A survey conducted by Barbell Apparel found that out of over 2000 people asked, 9 out of 10 gym goers agreed that simply putting on their gym clothes helps them to feel motivated to Hit the gym, even when they’re not feeling up to it.

Now, obviously you’re going to have to put in a bit more effort than simply getting dressed to get back into routine, but never underestimate the power of confidence, and how something as simple as a new pair of wraps can help get you moving!

When you are purposeful and positive, good things will happen. In addition to choosing clothes that you love, set yourself up for success by following these easy steps.

Talk about your next Hit!
Just by talking about your upcoming workout to someone else increases your chances of making it happen. If you make a public statement on your social media or to a larger group of people, your chances increase even more. By sharing your goals, you’re not only more likely to hold yourself accountable to them, but you will likely also serve as inspiration to someone else along the way. Win-Win!

Don’t do it alone!
The, “we’re in this together” mindset can be supremely powerful. So be sure to grab a friend when you grab those gloves, and enjoy the motivation and camaraderie that having a Hit buddy brings.

Plan ahead!
Lay out your favourite workout outfit the night before. Pack your fave gym bag (for me it is definitely our new Trainer Duffle!), and leave it by the door. Prepare that post-Hit snack, ready to grab on your way out the house.

Lastly, prepare to fall off the wagon. There are ups and downs that we all experience, and we have to be kind to ourselves when our routine goes sideways. Accept that you’ve hit a slump, and find easy ways (see above!) to get yourself back on track. A pity party is not going to help you remove your butt from the couch!

So go treat yourself to that cute new tank you’ve been eyeing and allow it to motivate you to get back on the mats. Wear it with pride, knowing that you have earned it, and that it is actually serving as a tool to help you achieve a happier, healthier you!
